No Matter Where You Are On Life's Journey, You Are Welcome Here.

Rev. Krista Forbes

Meet Rev. Krista Forbes

On Oct. 22, The Virginia-Highland Church Congregation Affirms Rev. Forbes As Acting Pastor

Rev. Forbes is a native of Virginia and has lived in Atlanta since 2012.  She currently serves as an associate minister at Providence Missionary Baptist Church and is a board-certified chaplain. She is pursuing a master’s degree in public health at Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University.

Rev. Forbes’s diverse journey began after receiving a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Hampton University and then working in that field as well as sports marketing. After an accomplished career in corporate America, Krista answered the Spirit’s call to ministry by attending Princeton Theological Seminary. She served with the Diversity Consortium and worked for the Hispanic Theological Initiative program.

In 2012, Rev. Forbes received her Master of Divinity with a concentration in Women’s Studies and was awarded the distinguished John Alan Swink Award in Preaching from Princeton. Rev. Forbes has grown into a passionate preacher, Bible studies teacher, and workshop facilitator, and is committed to providing care while affording a safe and inclusive space for all people during crisis.  It is clear that Rev. Forbes shares our churches passion for social justice.

Though the transition team views this as a short term call as we move forward towards the call to a settled Senior Pastor, we are excited about the gifts that Rev. Forbes brings to the table.

We welcome her to Virginia-Highland Church.
